Introduction: Nursing staff is frequently among professionals with greater job dissatisfaction and therefore Burnout syndrome. This syndrome is considered as a work accident, and it can be defined as chronic adjustment disorder with anxiety as a result of the interaction of work or employment status based on personal characteristics." The main objective of the study is to assess the prevalence of Burnout syndrome among nursing staff from a University Hospital Comarcal after years of employment. Methods: Survey Maslach Burnout Inventory to measure emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment at work. Results: Our population showed a mean of 47 ± 10.69 years, mainly women(73% versus 27%), with a mean of 18.02 ± 9.74 years of nursing practice and average length of current service of 7.5(IQR 4-15) years. In the overall analysis we obtain 30% of the assessed individuals meet criteria Burnout High or positive syndrome. The descriptive statistics of the three dimensions have been analyzed separately and together. Regarding Personal Exhaustion, it was considered high when ≥27 points were obtained. Depersonalization was considered high when ≥10puntos were obtained and personal fulfillment was considered when ≤33puntos were achieved. The frequencies of each parameter in our cohort were 34%, 43% and 56%, respectively. The study determines multiple factors involving the Burnout phenomenon and diagnoses the main causes, such as tiredness; work schedules, lack of resources and lack of interdisciplinary communication. The results of this study indicate that the problem has a certain magnitude, so our intention is to continue researching to confirm this trend. Health professionals are highly potential risk staff suffering burnout syndrome, and therefore it is considered necessary to act or influence on this population. We believe that it is essential to establish care strategies for professionals who are carriers of this syndrome and that have already been identified
