Introduction
Breast cancer is a major socio-health problem in Spain and, in addition to its physical complications, it entails psychological and emotional imbalances that can interfere with adherence to treatment, adaptive coping with the disease, quality of life and subjective well-being. From a salutogenic point of view, an intervention based on Positive Psychology has been proposed, including techniques such as Jacobson's Progressive Muscle Relaxation and mindfulness, and Seligman's PERMA and Ellis' A-B-C models.
Objective
The objective of this programme is to improve breast cancer patients' coping with the disease and adherence to treatment.
Method
The programme consists of 13 theoretical and practical sessions held once a week. Questionnaires assessing emotional distress, resilience, dispositional optimism, quality of life, coping and post-traumatic growth will be administered to evaluate its effectiveness.
Discussion
An increase in adaptive coping strategies and adherence to treatment, together with an increase in quality of life, subjective well-being, optimism, resilience, post-traumatic growth, and emotional regulation are expected after the implementation of the proposed programme.
