Corruption in Spain has always been a hot topic. The various cases of corruption that have occurred in our country during the 21st century, has forced the media to treat information in a constant and rigorous manner, as well as oriented towards truthfulness. All this added to the pursuit of one of the most important purposes in the journalistic field: objectivity. Currently, there are many news items dealing with political corruption, to a greater extent, in the written media, thus becoming a trivial topic par excellence. However, the different written media do not provide information in a homogeneous way, since the ideology of each one of them has a more relevant character. For this reason, the objective of this Final Degree Project is how the media treat one of the most relevant and influential cases of corruption in Spain: the Gürtel case. A plot that arises in 2009 and that links mainly to the Popular Party, whose forms of action are focused on the Community of Madrid, Comunidad Valenciana, Galicia and Castilla y León. Therefore, the subject of study requires the analysis of two national newspapers, as in the case of El País and El Mundo; and two regional newspapers, such as the newspapers Levante and Diario Información.
