Ruperto Chapí y la música festera: una paternidad no demostrada

Abstract

La música festera es aquella que se emplea en las repre-sentaciones de moros y cristianos del levante español. Sus inicios están directamente vinculados con el espíritu alham-brista de finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX. A través de este estudio de índole cualitativa se realiza una revisión bi-bliográfica y un análisis discursivo y musical. El objetivo prin-cipal es analizar la base documental de la hipótesis que atri-buye a Chapí la paternidad de la música festera. Para ello se establece un marco general de creación musical alhambrista, posteriormente se toman en consideración los parámetros musicales que permite la lectura del manuscrito original para banda de La Corte de Granda y se cotejan con las caracte-rísticas propias de las marchas moras y cristianas. Las con-clusiones contradicen esta hipótesis, al no hallar pruebas que demuestren que Chapí la escribió pensando en los festejos de moros y cristianos de su época

Música festera (Festive music) is that which is used in re-presentations of Moors and Christians from the Spanish Levant. Its beginnings are directly linked to the alhambrista spirit of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Through this qualitative study, a bibliographic review and a discursive and musical analysis is carried out. The main objective is to analyze the documentary basis of the hypothesis that attribu-tes to Chapí the paternity of the festive music. To this end, a general framework of alhambrista musical creation is esta-blished, subsequently taking into consideration the musical parameters that allow the reading of the original manuscript for band of La Corte de Granda and comparing them with the characteristics of the Moorish and Christian marches. The conclusions contradict this hypothesis, as no evidence is found to show that Chapí wrote it with the Moors and Chris-tians of his time in mind.
