It is often heard that the press manipulates, that a lack of information exists and this is due to the action of the mass media when informing.
In this paper an analysis of the news is carried out by maintaining the focus on how a range of information is modified from the leading newspapers, according to their ideology, based on the grammatical unit of the adjective. For this purpose, three issues have been selected: unemployment and corruption (the two main problems of Spaniards according to the CIS) and the extraparlamentary parties.
The newspapers analyzed in their digital version were the following: el diario ABC, El Confidencial, El Mundo, El País and La Marea. The total amount of researched news was fifty (five from each newspaper and five of each topic). During the project, data were gathered following both quantitative and qualitative perspectives; qualitative because each adjective that was found was classified and quantitative because the adjectives were also listed.
The results of the analysis reinforce the widespread belief that the information is being modified depending on the newspaper that writes the news article. Research has indicated that the same news can be told in a different way and, in this case, with different adjectives (obviously). However, it changes overmuch what is really the content of the news.
