Women who decide to play football must cope with many machista comments of their own society. Moreover, they are not considered professionals and their effort is understimated. Many football players had to face all these things, such as Laura Rúas, who received psychological assistance just because she wanted to play football. Another good example could be Marta Peiró, a Valencia C.F. player who had to hear derogatory remarks such as “do the washing up and babysit”, as she claims in a El Mundo newspaper’s article. But there is something even more important for them: medical treatment. They require a better treatment, equivalent to the one that men receive. Injuries are one of the most important concerns that women who play football in Spain have. Andrea Segura talks about it: “You cannot play football in the same way if you have an insurance that meet your needs or not”. This research focuses on the Valencian Football Federation (Federación Valenciana Fútbol) and its goal is to show some cases in which injured women football players have been abandoned by this federation, and even by their football club. Furthermore, this situation is seldom heard in the standard media, mainly because they do not play in first division/league. But there are also exceptions, and a good example is Leire Landa, who played in the female team Barcelona C.F. She was invited to leave the team after her second injury in her knee.
