Disappearances have become one of the topics of greatest interest in the journalism of events. However, the informative treatment of this type of events has always been in the spotlight. In addition to the strong presence of sensationalism, the fact that the most mediatic disappearances of recent years have always been carried out by young people —mostly women—, white-skinned and upper-middle class have generated talk about the White Woman's syndrome Disappeared. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to analyze the coverage that the newspapers El País and Las Provincias gave to the disappearances of Diana Quer and Teresa Mercé in order to check whether the media acted in a sociocentric manner. Thus, the study is based fundamentally on a quantitative analysis of the types of information offered by both media —news, reports, opinion articles...— between July 2016 and February 2018. The results lead us to think that features such as age or social class are crucial for the media to report on a disappearance.
