This work studies the methodology in the fact-checking, a technique that in recent years has regained the prominence in journalism and other social sciences, to combat the phenomenon of disinformation. The process of verification of facts is based on the selection of information, the verification of this with various sources that corroborate and deny the content and, finally, its rating follows a pre-established scale according to the truth of the facts (from true to false), together with the justification of that verdict. The theoretical framework of this work reviews the global evolution of fact verification initiatives to understand in which context they are developed and where they are headed. The disinformation of diverse points of view is also studied, emphasizing the complex system that attends to various factors. In addition, we investigate the different types of disinformation found today that address the typology, the support from where it is distributed and the dynamics that occur in its dissemination. Finally, the most studied practices to verify information used in the different networks is presented. The objective of this paper is to focus specifically on the in-depth study of media in Latin America. Chequeado, in Argentina, it was the first organization in the region to independently to do fact-checking and to participate in the implementation of other initiatives. Secondly, Ecuador Chequea was the first project in Ecuador to verify the facts and one of the first media outlets in the region. With all this, this work starts from the hypothesis about the tendencies that this journalistic technique follows. The first is that the automation of the method is presented as an option to speed up the verification process; and the second one point out that the media devoted to the control of facts are focused on the promotion of participation with the community of readers, with transparency between the media and the audience as the axis of this principle.
