The Jornades Vermelles and its various components are all situated the province of
Alicante, where all the research and workshops took place. This complex and
collaborative project was a joint effort with Andrea Martínez (MUECA) and included five
workshops, each of which ran in different villages. In the workshops, theory and praxis
met to combine theoretical framework with of 'situated knowledge' about trans feminism,
intersectionality and dissenting artistic practices including performance, archiving,
cartography, the creation of balaclavas and self-publishing a zine. Our intention was to
create dialog and understanding of academic theories through artistic creation We
intentionally chose locations at greater distances from large cities. Using the methodology
of Participatory Action Research, we addressed various issues including the construction
of both individual and collective identities, privileges or oppression within the feminist
movements, and challenging concepts that are commonly perceived as "normal, "natural",
"objective", etc. Above all, the project was carried out with the intention influencing and
working with feminist groups/associations within the region, as they are the ones who
make up the activist network at different points within this map.
This project also contains a second research project focused on the activity various
groups and associations that belong to the Alacantfeminista.com website, with the
intention of gaining insight into what state each group is currently in, what heir interests,
goals and objectives are, as well as how diverse the group is. We conducted our research
through questionnaires and interviews and within the limitations of said practices. This
information gathered will bring to light the panorama of feminist activism within the
network.
