Introduction: With the current aging population and the growing risk of dementia, addressing early detection and non-pharmacological intervention at the early stages of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) has become crucial. Objective: To analyze the existing scientific evidence regarding early detection strategies and non-pharmacological interventions in the initial phases of mild cognitive impairment. Method: A literature review was conducted in the PubMed and Scopus databases for literature published between 2013 and 2025, following the PRISMA 2020 method. A total of 14 articles were included after applying specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: Regarding assessments, it is concluded that the MMSE is not very sensitive to MCI, highlighting the characteristics of other tools such as the MoCA, alongside the rise of computerized batteries and online tests due to their objectivity. As for interventions, multi-domain interventions combining cognitive training, physical exercise, and dietary control, among others, gain great relevance compared to single-domain interventions. Discussion and conclusions: The detection of MCI requires the use of screening tools, together with multi-method strategies, which can be computerized. Likewise, interventions must encompass multiple domains to bring about changes in cognitive and everyday functioning. Future research is required regarding the unification of diagnostic and methodological criteria.
