This systematic review aimed to identify the socio-emotional characteristics in Spanish children aged 6 to 12 with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), prioritizing studies conducted in Spain. Following the guidelines of the PRISMA protocol, searches were performed in Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, PsycInfo, ERIC and Psicodoc. Of 1105 articles identified, 542 duplicates were removed; after the first screening by title and abstract 563 records, 27 were selected for complete reading, finally included 1 study : "Complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD) of ICD-11 in youths with childhood maltreatment: Associations with age of exposure and clinical outcomes” Marques-Feixa et al. (2023). This study evaluated 187 youths aged 7 to 17, exposed to childhood maltreatment, analyzing the symptoms of Complex PTSD. The results showed that maltreatment exposure is associated with greater externalizing and internalizing symptomatology, worse overall functioning, as well as greater psychiatric comorbidity and polypharmacy, and earlier onset of substance use. Furthermore, a socio-emotional profile was identified characterised by emotional dysregulation, negative self-concept and interpersonal problems, with a differential impact between the evolutionary stage and the subtype of abuse: emotional neglect was the most prevalent subtype (94%) being the only one with effect in all stages; the best predictor of posttraumatic symptoms was emotional abuse, specifically between 6 and 12 years; and physical neglect was especially harmful when it occurred before the age of 5. The shortage of Spanish studies indicates a lack of research in this area, as well as a clear need to investigate in depth this population in order to adapt the interventions to the Spanish youth population.
