Decir, pensar y sentir: giros, emociones y teorías en las masculinidades jóvenes en la Unam (México)

Abstract

Este trabajo explora cómo estudiantes hombres viven y significan la masculinidad en un tiempo en que las emociones son clave para comprender transformaciones subjetivas y colectivas, vinculando teoría y experiencias. La primera versión (2023) la escribí como autobiografía académica –por lo cual se ensaya una estructura no convencional— en el marco del auge del reciente movimiento feminista en la UNAM, cuyas acciones transformaron a la institución con logros como la materia obligatoria Género, violencia y ética comunitaria en la FFyL. Desde un tono personal y afectivo, exploro cómo los varones enfrentan la interpelación feminista entre miedo e incomodidad, pero también con aperturas a la reflexión. Discuto la masculinidad como un dispositivo singular de poder, violencia y sexualidad, atravesado por la microfísica sexista y la asociatividad obligatoria, en diálogo con Connell y el giro afectivo de Ahmed. Cierro con la propuesta de desobediencias varoniles profeministas en un horizonte universitario de transformación

This article examines how male students experience and interpret masculinity at a moment when emotions have become central to understanding both personal and collective change, weaving together theory and lived experience. The first draft of this work (2023) emerged as an academic autobiography, which deliberately experimented with a non-conventional structure, written in the wake of the recent feminist mobilizations at UNAM, which reshaped the institution through measures such as the introduction of the mandatory course Gender, Violence, and Community Ethics in the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature. Writing from a personal and affective perspective, I explore how male students respond to feminist challenges—often with fear and unease, yet also with moments of reflection and openness. I approach masculinity as a singular construct of power, violence, and sexuality, sustained through what I term “sexist microphysics” and “compulsory associativity,” while engaging with Connell’s work and Ahmed’s affective turn. I conclude by suggesting pro-feminist male acts of disobedience as a necessary horizon for institutional and cultural transformation within the university
