Investigar en condiciones de excepcionalidad sanitaria. Desafíos políticos/metodológicos del trabajo académico

Abstract

La emergencia sanitaria decretada a nivel mundial por COVID-19 tuvo y sigue teniendo consecuencias en todos los aspectos de la vida. Esto incluye el ámbito sanitario político, económico, educativo y laboral, así como también las organizaciones domésticas, las interacciones sociales y las relaciones interpersonales. En este extenso contexto de reconfiguración de las actividades cotidianas, los modos de hacer investigación, también se vieron alterados. Este artículo tiene como propósito, dar a conocer un análisis crítico, basado en la experiencia asociada a los desafíos metodológicos de un equipo interdisciplinario de investigación para hacer frente a la necesidad de continuar un estudio etnográfico iniciado antes de la pandemia y financiado con fondos públicos de salud, en contexto de excepcionalidad y confinamiento en Chile. Por ello, se indican las diversas fases reflexivas que sostuvimos como colectividad cultivando una propuesta epistemológica crítica, y que nos permitió establecer una trayectoria, la que decidimos detallar y describir, para transparentar las acciones y transformaciones llevadas a cabo y que son vitales para dar cuenta de las lógicas de las ciencias sociales en función de las barreras macro-estructurales que pueden interferir en los procesos de nuestra labores académicas. Asimismo, puede ser un insumo para otros equipos de investigación, aportando en la visualización de una pedagogía basada en la superación de obstáculos/barreras y continuar con nuestro oficio (a pesar de todo): Es decir, investigar.

The health emergency decreed worldwide by COVID-19 had and continues to have consequences in all aspects of life. This includes the political, economic, educational and occupational health spheres, as well as domestic organizations, social interactions and interpersonal relationships. In this extensive context of reconfiguration of everyday activities, the ways of doing research have also been altered. The purpose of this article is to present a critical analysis, based on the experience associated with the methodological challenges of an interdisciplinary research team to face the need to continue an ethnographic study initiated before the pandemic and financed with public health funds, in a context of exceptionality and confinement in Chile. Therefore, we indicate the different reflexive phases that we sustained as a collective cultivating a critical epistemological proposal, and that allowed us to establish a trajectory, which we decided to detail and describe, to make transparent the actions and transformations carried out and that are vital to account for the logics of the social sciences in function of the macro-structural barriers that can interfere in the processes of our academic work. Likewise, it can be an input for other research teams, contributing to the visualization of a pedagogy based on overcoming obstacles/barriers and continuing with our profession (in spite of everything): that is, researching.
