The economic crisis negatively impacted the balanced budget of the western states, in this situation of recession and objectives of uncontrollable deficit, the political power promoted a series of measures to reduce spending on the Welfare State, which would see their economic viability would be in interdict. This stage, known as the cuts and by EU driven, began in Spain in 2010 under the socialist government led by Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and has been continued by the PP government led by Mariano Rajoy, and that at the time of completing this work continues in office after two failed processes investiture. The cuts in the Welfare State have been very unpopular among a citizenry that has seen social rights and progress in public services for democracy as have begun to recede in favor of a neoliberal political-economic mainstream. The media have played a key role in informing citizens and help the political power to shape favorable public opinion against the imposition of such measures. The editorial lines and political affinities have been very important by the traditional media when establishing media coverage of the cuts. Analyzing how they have addressed this stage two ideologically opposed means ('El País' and 'La Razón'). They would help us to understand the health of the Spanish landscape.
