Abstract:

Values as a therapeutic component from a contextual perspective. A focus on adolescence: Systematic review. Values are a widely addressed construct in psychology. We understand value as a “chosen, desired, and verbally constructed global life direction,” achievable but not attainable, present as a horizon that provides guidance or personal meaning in our actions. In the stage of adolescence, values have been addressed taking into account the construction process they are undergoing. In psychological intervention, they have been addressed from various approaches, with special relevance to the contextual perspective. This systematic review aims to analyze and evaluate values from a contextual perspective, especially in psychological intervention. A total of 29 articles, obtained from two databases (“PubMed” and “Scopus”), have been included. The results show a limited number of instruments for evaluating values and a lack of consensus and explicit use of definitions for this construct; however, the relationship between values and various psychological constructs has been studied. On the other hand, there are no formal and validated instruments to measure values in adolescence, highlighting the scarcity of instruments adapted to adolescence for evaluating values and their need.
