The most prevalent mental disorders in Primary Care are the so-called emotional disorders. The projects Improving Access to Psychological Therapies in the United Kingdom, Better Access in Australia and Prompt Mental Health Care in Norway have been implemented in Primary Care in their countries. Their purpose was to facilitate access to psychological therapies, with good empirical support, to a larger part of the population. In Spain we have the PsicAP project (Psychology in Primary Care) which has obtained reliable recovery rates between 45% and 50% and deterioration rates of 3%. The aim of the present study is to analyse the effectiveness of a group cognitive-behavioural psychological treatment for emotional disorders. Patients were refered by Primary Care doctors of the Alicante-Hospital General Health Department. Patients who met the inclusion criteria attended 7 group sessions based on the PsicAP protocol. In order to assess the variables depression, somatic disorders, generalised anxiety and disability, PHQ-9, PHQ-15, GAD-7 and SDS questionnaires were given to them before and after the intervention. The results revealed a statistically significant reduction in the scores on each of the variables. Therefore, the intervention has been effective in reducing depressive, somatic and anxiety symptoms and the impact of disability in patients with emotional disorders.
