Introduction: Falls in adults over 65 years of age represent both an economic and health problem for the population and are caused by changes associated with age, in addition to another series of risk factors. Dual training, both motor and cognitive, seems to be a good strategy to increase gait stability. Objetives: Know and assess the effect of dual training on gait stability and balance in patients over 65 years of age. Material and methods: A search for randomized clinical trials published since 2013 was carried out in the databases Pubmed, Web of Science, PEDro and Science Direct to determine the effectiveness of dual training on gait stability. Results: 13 studies have been reviewed, of which six have made a comparison of the effect of dual training on a control group, seven have made a comparison of the effectiveness of dual training with respect to single task training and one of them has made a comparison between two dual training models. The measures used were gait speed, step length, gait cadence, dual task cost, cognitive status, static and dynamic stability. Conclusion: There is moderate evidence that dual training is effective for gait stability and balance in older people. There is not enough evidence to determine which type of dual training is most appropriate.
