The Clots de la Sal is a natural area formed by small pools of sulfurous and ferrous waters, along the course of the Vinalopó River. It has recently been declared a Municipal Natural Site along with Monte de la Mola for presenting relevant environmental, historical, cultural and social values. Due to the declaration of this protection figure, the balance between the use and conservation of this natural area may be altered, for example, by the increase in the influx of visitors or lucrative activities. The objective of this Final Degree Project is to identify the vascular and algal flora present in this natural area, paying greater interest to cyanobacteria, as a first step to develop actions aimed at its protection and conservation. To this end, two samplings were carried out at the study site in order to collect water samples to carry out physical-chemical analyzes and biological samples to carry out the identification of the species through the use of taxonomic guides and compare the results obtained with those recorded in ancient studies, thus knowing the current state of the algal and vascular flora. In addition, it will allow us to increase our knowledge about the diversity of plant species in the Clots de la Sal, which will help to value the biodiversity of saline environments and to know if plant populations will be affected by improved access and increased influx of visitors.
