Introduction: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease with widespread physical effects caused by the production of autoantibodies against components of cell nuclei. The term lupus (Latin for ‘wolf’) is attributed to the 13th century physician Rogerius, who used it to describe characteristic facial lesions reminiscent of a wolf's bite.1 In some patients the disease is mild. Other patients suffer premature and catastrophic organ damage. The cause of SLE is unknown. Objectives: to determine the clinical manifestations that a foot with SLE may present. Materials and methods: a search was carried out in different databases (Pubmed, Scielo, Scopus, and Enfispo) and we narrowed the search to articles published from 2013 onwards without specific population or specific age. Results: 7 articles were chosen for the review, meeting the inclusion criteria, all of which related SLE to specific clinical manifestations in the foot. Discussion: all the articles agree on one issue: the lack of studies described in the literature, which makes future studies that show an association between SLE and foot involvement necessary. Conclusion: Despite the limitations due to the lack of studies, we have found clear confirmation that foot problems due to SLE exist, not only on a physical level but also mentally, which is all the more reason to continue researching this subject.
