The current demographic situation in Spain is characterized by a low birth rate and a considerable increase in life expectancy, which places our country among the most aged in the world. This scenario has a direct impact on the labor market, affecting its workforce due to the aging population and its consequences. In this context, this Final Degree Project examines the historical data collected, as well as the main factors influencing the labor market for people over 45 years old, with a special focus on the analysis of long-term unemployment and its specific effect on this group. Additionally, it analyzes the social protection provided by the administrations for this collective and the regulations that support it. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of public authorities taking this situation into account and implementing effective measures to address job insecurity in this segment of the population, with special emphasis on measures that promote the extension of the working age for this group.
