The evolution of production and consumption systems has led to the circular economy, a response to the 21st century's environmental, social, and economic challenges. This model aims to keep products and resources in use as long as possible through reuse, repair, and recycling, contrasting with the linear "take, make, dispose" system. Driven by increasing environmental awareness and technological innovation, the circular economy not only reduces environmental footprint but also generates economic and social opportunities. Key benefits include job creation and fostering equity. However, it faces challenges like higher prices and lack of accessibility to eco-friendly products. The main goal of this work is to promote responsible consumption and production from the classroom, examining the foundations of the circular economy and its relation to eco-friendly product consumption. The environmental, social, and economic impacts will be investigated, and its contribution to SDG 12 of the 2030 Agenda will be evaluated. Recommendations for governments, businesses, and civil society to promote sustainability are proposed. The circular economy is based on regenerative design principles, closing material loops, and using renewable energy. It promotes resource efficiency and technological innovation. Consuming eco-friendly products is key to this model, promoting sustainable practices and improving quality of life, though it faces economic and perception barriers. In education, it is suggested to teach these concepts through practical examples, policy discussions, and sustainable projects. Students can apply theoretical knowledge to real-world projects, promoting a more sustainable and equitable future.
