Trabajando en el aula las figuras ocultas de la mujer en la ciencia

Abstract

Históricamente, las contribuciones de las científicas a la sociedad han sido subestimadas. A menudo, sus trabajos han sido ignorados o atribuidos a sus compañeros masculinos. Sin embargo, últimamente se intenta reconocer sus valiosos descubrimientos y se busca corregir esta injusticia histórica. El objetivo planteado en este trabajo es promover la igualdad de género en la ciencia, sensibilizar al alumnado sobre el papel de las mujeres científicas y proporcionar recursos para educar en un entorno equitativo y libre de prejuicios de género, centrados específicamente en la asignatura de Biología y Geología. Para ello se realizará una propuesta de situación de aprendizaje que aplicar en el aula. En ella se realizará un trabajo de reflexión con el alumnado sobre los problemas a los que se enfrentan las mujeres científicas y la importancia de avanzar como sociedad hacia la igualdad desechando estereotipos. Posteriormente, se trabajará mediante grupos cooperativos de 4 alumnos la historia de científicas de diferentes épocas, y se analizarán los problemas a los que se enfrentaron. Se crearán pósteres y se expondrán a otros grupos de estudiantes. Con esta actividad, el alumnado aprenderá sobre las mujeres científicas en un viaje emocionante e interesante, en el que conocerán historias reales que en ocasiones superan a la ficción. Así, aprenderán también valores de igualdad y equidad de género y adquirirán competencias de trabajo en equipo.

Historically, the contributions of female scientists to society have been underestimated. Frequently, their works have been ignored or attributed to their male counterparts. Nowadays, society is doing an effort to acknowledge their valuable discoveries and to address this historical injustice. The main objective of this work is to promote gender equality in science, raise awareness among students about the role of female scientists, and provide resources to educate in an equitable and gender bias-free environment, specifically focusing on the subjects of Biology and Geology. In order to achieve this, a proposal for a learning situation to be applied in classrooms will be developed. Students will do a reflective exercise about the challenges faced by female scientists and the importance of progressing as a society towards equality by discarding stereotypes. Subsequently, students will work in cooperative groups of four to explore the history of scientists from different eras and analyze the challenges they encountered. Posters will be designed and presented to other student groups. Through this activity, students will embark on an exciting and interesting journey to learn about female scientists, exploring real-life stories that sometimes surpass fiction. They will also learn values of equality and gender equity and will acquire teamwork skills.
