This master's thesis investigates the influence of autonomy support in the teaching and assessment of physical fitness in adolescents aged 12 to 18. The objective is to understand how an autonomy-supportive interpersonal style affects intrinsic motivation and active participation in physical activities and to propose a fitness test that encompasses both physical performance and general well-being, which would be motivating for students. A literature review was conducted, selecting eight relevant articles. The results show that programs fostering autonomy support improve the satisfaction of students' basic psychological needs, increasing their self-determined motivation and satisfaction in physical education classes. Pedagogical strategies such as providing choices and using non-controlling language are effective in enhancing the perception of autonomy and motivation. Additionally, it was observed that the proper implementation of fitness tests, along with the use of music, can increase motivation and performance in cardiorespiratory fitness, while also reducing anxiety. Teachers with positive attitudes toward the tests tend to use them more effectively to promote lifelong physical activity. Therefore, the practical proposal based on the literature will focus on granting students autonomy to satisfy their basic psychological needs by modifying the Alpha-Fitness battery according to the strategies found.
