Since the public launch of ChatGPT at the end of 2022, chatbots have been gaining greater relevance in various sectors of society, including education, due to their potential results. The aim of this study was to explore the published literature on the integration of ChatGPT in classroom dynamics to learn about the uses that the tool can offer to teachers and students. The selection of the studies was made following the PRISMA statement, selecting a final sample of 15 articles from the Scopus database. From the findings obtained, ChatGPT provides a variety of opportunities for education, including support for content creation, personalized learning and feedback, personal tutoring, assessment support, saving time and effort, and improvement in programming learning. However, ChatGPT presents a number of challenges and risks related to academic integrity, a potential barrier in the process of improving critical thinking and problem-solving skills, data security and privacy, tool dependency, lack of motivation, as well as the accuracy of the information it generates. The study concludes by stating that the application of ChatGPT in education presents both benefits and challenges; therefore, efforts and strategies are needed to ensure the effective use of ChatGPT for academic purposes.
