Previous studies have indicated that involvement in bullying is linked to a variety of unfavorable consequences for students (Riffle et al. 2021) and may even lead to dropping out of school. Another variable associated with bullying behavior is academic performance; previous research suggests that as students' involvement in bullying increases, their academic performance decreases (Feldman et al., 2014; Glew et al., 2005).
The aim of this study is to conduct a systematic review of whether bullying is one of the factors that most affects adolescents' school performance, a question that directly addresses the impact of bullying on a crucial aspect of adolescents' lives: their education, in order to understand the long-term consequences of bullying and to provide a basis for developing effective educational interventions.
It has been observed that those adolescents who have suffered bullying present a lower commitment to school and lower motivation, which generates a decrease in their academic performance.
