In contemporary society, science plays a fundamental role not only in technological and
economic development, but also in shaping culture and people's worldviews. This
undergraduate thesis analyzes the impact among participants of events framed within
the scientific dissemination projects: Science Goes To School and the Elx/Elche Science
and Technology Fair. The analysis is based on data collected during activities conducted
in the cities of Elche and Alicante. Through the analysis of responses to detailed
surveys, this study investigates how these events influence the public's understanding
and appreciation of science.
Scientific dissemination, as a bridge between the scientific community and society, has
the potential to transform indifference into interest and skepticism into confidence in
science and technology. This study evaluates the impact of such events on public
perception, considering participants' responses to issues such as the evaluation of
scientific research after the activity, the evaluation of the experience, the
understanding of the research presented, and the evaluation of the most interesting
parts along with suggestions for improvement. Additionally, it analyzes how presenting
science in an interactive and accessible format can enhance scientific knowledge and
foster a positive attitude towards research and innovation. This analysis is
complemented by a literature review on the social impact of scientific dissemination
projects and how they can serve not only to educate the public but also to inspire
future generations of scientists and technologists. By identifying the strengths and
weaknesses of current dissemination events, this thesis proposes recommendations to
enhance the effectiveness of these initiatives, with the goal of stimulating a deeper and
lasting interest in science among the general population.
