The practice of physical exercise during pregnancy has garnered growing interest in medical and sports research. The objective of this systematic review is to compile and examine numerous studies and clinical guidelines to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of evidence in this field. The findings demonstrate that physical exercise during pregnancy yields significant benefits for both the mother, improving her quality of life and reducing pregnancy and childbirth-related issues, and the fetus. Observed benefits include improvements in cardiovascular and metabolic health, reduction in the risk of childbirth complications, pain relief, enhanced mobility, and mental health benefits. However, many pregnant women are still unaware of these benefits due to the lack of information and promotion. Specific contraindications were also identified, highlighting the importance of personalizing recommendations according to medical and psychosocial factors. Future research should focus on specific and tailored interventions to increase the adoption of physical activity and exercise during pregnancy and on disseminating accessible information and resources to all pregnant women.
