The World Health Organization estimates that between 10-20% of adolescents have experienced some mental disorder, being childhood and youth anxiety one of the most frequent (WHO, 2020). The main objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a cognitivebehavioral intervention in a 12-year-old adolescent girl with high abilities and anxiousdepressive symptomatology. The evaluation and application was carried out during 14 sessions, at a rate of 1 session per week of 1 hour and a half of duration and ended with 3 follow-up sessions. For the evaluation, semi-structured interviews were conducted with both the parents and the participant, and the Child Depression Inventory and the State-Trait Anxiety Questionnaire for children were used to evaluate symptoms of depression and anxiety. Other variables were also evaluated through the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, the Multifactorial Self-Assessment Test of Childhood Adjustment, the Rathus Assertiveness Inventory and the Social Skills Scale. The intervention consisted of emotional psychoeducation, diaphragmatic breathing and imaginative relaxation, behavioral activation, social skills training, cognitive restructuring and problem solving. The results suggest that the intervention was effective, reducing anxious-depressive symptoms and improving mood, social skills, problem solving, family climate, sleep habits, cognitive restructuring and control of self-injurious, avoidant and impulsive behaviors. In conclusion, the selection of CBT-based strategies as a treatment was effective for the anxiety and depression symptomatology of a girl with high abilities.
