Introduction: Tennis is one of the most practiced sports worldwide, in which shoulder injuries stand out as one of the most common injuries at all levels. This sport has some special characteristics that produce a unique picture of injuries. Risk factors such as the loss of internal rotation, lack of muscle strength and scapular dyskinesia are the cause of the majority of these injuries. Objectives: Analyse the best preventive methods and treatments for shoulder injuries in tennis players, in relation to the most influential risk factors and the sport-specific characteristics of this sport. Material and methods: A bibliographic review has been carried out from the information of 3 databases, which are Pubmed, Biblioteca Virtual de la Salud (BVS) and PEDro. Results: A total of 8 articles have met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, being chosen for the specific analysis. The average score of PEDro´s scale for these articles is 6´5/10 and all of them are randomized controlled clinical trials. None of these studies is completely formed by tennis players. Conclusions: Stretching, dry needling, kinesiotapying and progressive overload strength training are the treatments with better scientific evidence for shoulder injuries. The lack of muscle strength, the internal rotation deficit and scapular dyskinesis are the main risk factors of these injuries in tennis players. More research in this field is needed in the future since it is currently quite scarce.
