Currently there are many fashion designers trying to make their own name in the industry. In the midst of this struggle for success, names that come from the province of Alicante reach catwalks beyond the provincial, regional or national level. Alicante fashion makes its parades reach outside Spain and manages to take its name to international levels. This is how "Made in Alicante: province’s fashion transcends borders", a journalistic report in written format that explores the province of Alicante as a possible focus of fashion in Spain from the success of designers born in its different cities.
This project aims to investigate the past and present of the surgement of important fashion designers in the province of Alicante. It consists of an analysis of the relevance of designers who make national and international headlines such as Hannibal Laguna, Juan Vidal, Dominnico, Rubén Hernández or Yvan Andreu. All of them have in common the province of Alicante as the beginning of their careers and it is a way to know if cities like Alicante, Elche, Elda or Torrevieja, among others, are an important part of the history of Spanish fashion.
Through expert voices in fashion’s world, the importance of the trajectories and achievements of these fashion professionals is explained, as well as emphasizing their possible connections. Beyond these common factors, we also seek to know if the province and the corresponding institutions are sufficiently promoting the talent of these fashion creatives and if the existing events are relevant when it comes to disseminating their work beyond the limits of the province.
The sources consulted and interviewed lead to the conclusion that there is a "Made in Alicante" of Alicante’s fashion through its designers, but despite having support through various events, they do not receive direct or sufficient aid to boost their careers.
