Cordia dodecandra is a component of both home gardens and tropical dry forests of Yucatan. However, land use change and fragmentation has led to decline in their populations. Therefore, knowledge of the population structure of the species is relevant to determining its current conservation status. The objective of this study was to analyze the population structure of Cordia dodecandra in tropical forests and home gardens of the Yucatan Peninsula, considering management practices. Initially, a characterization of the vegetation in both systems was made to know the value of the species in each of the environments. Attributes such as height, diameter and coverage of each individual were measured to determine the structure of the Siricote populations. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted with the families to obtain information on the management and use of the species. It was obtained that the value of importance in family home gardens was greater for fruit trees such as Spondias purpurea and Citrus aurantium, while in the forest there was greater relevance of timber species. The population structure revealed significant differences, which is attributable to the family's overall management of the home gardens. A lower density of seedlings in forest was observed, possibly due to a lower percentage of fruit yield and low viability of the seed. It is concluded that the family garden has been an agroforestry system in which native species such as the Siricote have been conserved and propagated. However, few individuals reach maturity due to weeding practices. It is recommended to generate strategies that promote their conservation and reintroduction in their natural environments
