Audiencias y géneros cinematográficos. Continuidades y cambios en el audiovisual: Las grandes apuestas de dos clásicos del streaming: Netflix y HBO

Abstract

En este trabajo de Fin de Grado, analizaré cómo los géneros cinematográficos son presentados en las plataformas streaming Netflix y HBO, y examinaré las claves del éxito de dos de las series más populares de estas plataformas, Stranger Things y Juego de Tronos, respectivamente. Para ello, realizaré un repaso de la historia de los géneros cinematográficos, apoyándome en el estudio de Rick Altman en su libro Los Géneros Cinematográficos (2000). Veremos los cambios que se han producido en el género fantástico, desde sus inicios hasta la llegada de El Señor de los Anillos y Harry Potter y el cambio que sus adaptaciones al cine produjeron en este género, así como en las narrativas transmedia y el fenómeno fan.

In this end-of-degree project, I will analyze how the cinematographic genres are presented in the streaming platforms Netflix and HBO, and I will examine the keys to success of two of the most popular tv shows of these platforms, Stranger Things and Game of Thrones, respectively. To do that, I will review the history of cinematographic genres, supporting me in the study of Rick Altman’s book Film/Genre (2000). We will see the changes produced in the fantastic genre, from its beginnings to the arrival of The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, and the change their film adaptations produced in this genre, such as in the transmedia narratives and the fan phenomenon.
