Throughout the health professional career, a loss of quality of care can occur due to various factors. One of them is the lack of doctors that can cause an increase in the waiting list, overload of work in the professionals, or a lack of assistencial continuity. In this descriptive study we have collected the estimate in the next 10 years for the province of Alicante, of university graduates, MIR residents who finish their training and the retirement of doctors who are now active. It can be concluded that in terms of the replacement of health places in the medical population in the province of Alicante in the next 10 years there will be an excess of students and MIR of up to 100 per year. Therefore, increasing the number of medical students from 130 to 220 a year for the next academic year, as has been recently decided in the province, means training doctors who will hardly have a place in the public health system. The MIR doctors already trained that exceed the retirements would correspond to a correct planning according to the population growth whenever new structural positions are generated. A balance must be found so that there is no saturation of the health system
