Suicide has become a silent problem in society. Worldwide, its numbers have been increasing year by year. If we focus more specifically on the police forces, its members have entered this profession by undergoing psychological tests that determine their capacity and integrity, so it should be a group of people with a lower suicide rate compared to the general population. This work aims to identify whether there is a problem of suicidal behavior in the police profession, to combine the stressors of police work that lead to suicidal behavior and to discern the measures adopted in different countries to tackle the problem and to observe the situation in the Spanish model of prevention. A bibliographic review has been carried out in several databases, as well as consultation in different Internet search engines. The results obtained indicate that there is a higher suicide rate in police professionals than in the rest of the general population. We have identified the different stressors of the police profession and we have observed differences between the different measures adopted in different countries and the effectiveness of the Spanish model. In conclusion, we observed that there is a worldwide problem of suicidal behaviors among members of the police corps and more specifically, the measures for the prevention of suicidal behaviors implemented in the police corps in Spain are based on an erroneous premise and have not reflected an improvement in the numbers of suicides.
