The good relationship between human being and the environment in which he lives is essential for his survival. Nature provides the necessary resources and ecosystem services to obtain good quality of life. Biodiversity conservation is, in this way, a primary issue in the development of human societies if the objective is to maintain and/or improve current living conditions, ideally with a green horizon of sustainability. Habitats are those places that group together very particular conditions, thus enabling the coexistence and the ecosystemic interaction of animals, plants and other living beings that inhabit them. Within the framework of the need to preserve ecosystems, the Habitat Directive of the European Union was born in 1992, whose purpose is the conservation of habitats and wild fauna and flora of the member states. This project has involved a detailed study of the habitats of the Protected Landscape of the Maigmó and Cid mountain range, with the aim of generating a scientific document that serves as a tool to know the specific needs of each of these habitats and achieve preventive measures, proper preservation and protection. To achieve this, 6 carefully selected areas have been studied with ecosystem characteristics considered promoters of biodiversity (flooded areas, river beds with permanent water, edaphic factors such as Arenosols or Gypsisols, shaded highlands...). A file has been generated for each of these areas that summarizes all the results obtained during the field work. Results demonstrated the great variety of habitats protected by the European Directive that appear throughout the Protected Landscape, all of them with a very promising level of conservation. However, the anthropization degree and the human pressure that the landscape supports shows the need to approve real tools for the conservation of natural spaces, such as the Natural Resources Management Plan (PORN its spanish initials) that more than 10 years ago should have (and still do not have) the Protected Landscape.
