The video game industry has always been divided, although for various reasons it has managed to evolve and is now more changed. However, some feel that this industry is focused by and for them. In this work, the role of women in the industry is highlighted, and clarifies questions such as whether the fact that they are a minority has caused the main female characters in a video game to be in a stage of evolution or stagnation. Given the notoriety of the presence of female characters, which apparently is less common to see sexualized, it is important to take into account if this has had an impact on women making their way without feeling displaced, or the opposite; referring to both the players and the content developers. Specifically, it studies how the most notable companies in the action-adventure video game industry in the last five years have added female characters, representing both main and secondary roles more frequently. The Final Degree Project will conclude with the reflections obtained from the research both in the study of the industry in general, and of the female characters in action-adventure video games in particular, to reflect on the current state of the video game industry with respect to men and women.
