The Pilates method has been considered a widely used training modality that
includes a system of exercises that allow the whole body to be worked on,
correcting posture, and aligning the muscles. It has a positive impact on body
stability and quality of life. These beneficial effects could help reduce the nocive
effects associated with menopause, in turn delaying progressive aging. The
objective pursued is focused on to determine the benefits of the Pilates method
in menopausal women, for which a bibliographic review established in the
PubMed scientific research database. The selected investigations are evaluated
around the quality of the content through the Jadad scale aimed at clinical trials.
Based on the research presented, it is shown that the Pilates method is effective
against the various disorders and adverse effects that characteristically occur in
women during menopause. However, the existence of a high number of relevant
studies of adequate quality is necessary to conclusively verify the benefits
associated with the regular practice of the Pilates method at this stage of a
woman's life.
