Background: The study of interdisciplinary-interprofessional collaboration
between nurses and doctors is an important topic, as effective interprofessional
collaboration is related to good health outcomes in patients and beneficial
effects for healthcare staff. Currently, there is no validated tool in our country
that assesses interdisciplinary-interprofessional collaboration between nurses
and doctors in Primary Care.
Aims: To translate and adapt the Jefferson Scale of Attitude toward Physician
and Nurse Collaboration (JSAPNC) to the Spanish context, as well as to
evaluate the psychometric properties (validity and reliability) of the Spanish
version.
Materials and methods: This project is structured in 2 stages:
1st Stage: Translation-retrotranslation and cross-cultural adaptation of the
JSAPNC scale, evaluation of the content validation by calculating the CVI-E,
CVI-I, and CVI-T with the help of 10 experts, carrying out a pretest in a target population and evaluating face validity.
Stage 2: Cross-sectional design study to obtain a validation sample and
evaluate the psychometric properties of the scale obtained in Stage 1. The
study population will be doctors and nurses belonging to the Primary Care
Management of Gran Canaria, selected by means of convenience sampling.
Data collection will be carried out by means of an online questionnaire where
different variables to be studied and the Spanish version of the JSAPNC-e will
be collected. To assess construct validity, exploratory and confirmatory factor
analysis will be carried out using FACTOR© software. Internal reliability will be
assessed by calculating the ORION scores, Cronbach's alpha and the Omega
coefficients, as well as temporal stability by means of the intraclass correlation
coefficient. In addition, an inferential analysis will be carried out for the variables
collected and the scale finally obtained.
