The quality of the educational system is a critical issue, since the evolution of society depends on this quality, which is increasingly changing and demanding. For this reason, the objective of understanding the variables involved in the new profile of excellent teachers is pursued, and in this study focused on higher education, the search is carried out through the proposal of an instrument created to measure these variables, from the two perspectives involved: teachers and students. Likewise, through this study in which the Delphi technique is used and the two focus groups composed, one by 26 students of the last course of the Psychology degree with ages between 21 and 50 years, and the second consisting of 14 teachers, participate. With ages between 41 and 64 years, experts in didactics, psychology and pedagogy, results are obtained that show two different profiles on teaching excellence; for focus group 1 the profile is made up of two dimensions: methodological and personal, and for focus group 2, three dimensions: methodological, personal and institutional. Based on these results, it is discussed reflecting on the need for the variables proposed for this excellent teacher profile.
