A global pandemic, a polarized society, and a toxic and racist police system. These are the three elements that were being cooked up in the United States, just a few months away from the next presidential election. An election, the result of which was key to deciding the direction of the rest of the planet: to continue with Trump’s denialism and tyranny, or to choose a former vice president whose mission was precisely to win the battle against the virus, and to overthrow all the decisions that his predecessor had made regarding relations, international covenants, fiscal policy, and social rights. . In the face of an event of such magnitude and relevance, any strategy is valid. Especially social networks, and specifically Twitter. Because it not only served to capture votes, encourage and promote knowledge about politics, but it was a great ally of journalists, senators, experts, and the media to spread the updates that were obtained on the results, and, therefore, to let citizens around the world know, almost immediately, how the vote count, statistics among others, was evolving. A clear example that journalism can grow, reinvent itself and be innovative when it plays with the right cards, such as social networks.
