INTRODUCTION
Focal dystonia is a task-specific movement disorder that is accompanied by a loss of fine motor control. Cramps, flexions and hyperextension of the affected limb have been observed. Musicians are especially sensitive to developing this type of Dystonia due to the frequency of repetitive movements of instrumental practice, in this case we speak of musician's focal hand dystonia
OBJECTIVES
The objective of this essay is to examine the scientific evidence that has been published regarding physiotherapy treatments and their most effective combination for this type of pathology.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
A review of the bibliography is made in the databases PUBMED, PEDRO, DIALNET, ENFISPO and COCHRANE LIBRARY, from 2015 to the present.
RESULTS
6 articles have been selected; 1 systematic review, 1 case study, 1 randomized double-blind clinical trial, 1 prospective randomized double-blind controlled pilot study, 1 pilot study and 1 descriptive study. Various electrotherapy treatments were found combined with others specific to the task, kinesiotaping and others. Most studies report significant improvements.
CONCLUSIONS.
A wide variety of physiotherapy treatments have been found for the musician's Hand Focal Dystonia, but there are none with strong evidence to demonstrate their effectiveness. Treatments that include a combination of various techniques and / or methods appear to be more effective than applying an applied technique alone. However, more evidence is required for this pathology.
