Introduction. Adverse health effects of tobacco consumption are widely known. Since the implementation in Spain of the Law on Prevention of Occupational Hazards in 1995, many regions have developed plans to reduce cigarettes consumption in many public schools and companies. However, in the “Hospital General Universitario de los Arcos del Mar Menor de Murcia” these kinds of programs are under development. It is for this reason that the main objective of this work will be to collaborate with the prevention service of “Hospital General Universitario de los Arcos del Mar Menor de Murcia” in the development and implementation of a smoking cessation program aimed at its workers. Methods. For this purpose, a systematic literature review of previous smoking cessation programs was conducted. The search was focused on these smoking cessation programs that have been developed in Spain. In addition, the opinion of workers in the hospital related to the implementation of the program was taken into account using self.reported surveys. Results. Overall the main results of the survey indicated that in the “Hospital General Universitario de los Arcos del Mar Menor de Murcia”, 71 of the 80 respondents from various categories of workers of the hospital would agree the introduction of a smoking cessation program; plan proposed in this paper. Finally, the implementation of a smoking cessation program was proposed. The smoking cessation program consisted of five different steps: 1. Informative talk about the program, 2. Test of evaluation of nicotine dependence, 3. Recruitment of participants, 4. Individual monitoring and 5. Collective monitoring. Conclusions. There is a considerable demand among workers (smokers and nonsmokers) of the “Hospital General Universitario de los Arcos del Mar Menor de Murcia” for the implementation of a smoking cessation program. In case this smoking cessation program was developed it will imply, not only an improvement of the health status of the workers in the Hospital, but also its corporative image becoming a pioneer and reference Hospital in this field in his area
