The aim of this study was to observe the impact of different warm-up task orientation (physical or cognitive way) in the reaction time of handball players during decision-making actions. The study was composed of 9 female handball players. The participants were divided into two groups, which did two types of warm-up in a counterbalanced way; group 1, physical and cognitive warm-up and group 2, cognitive and physical warm-up. Subsequently, each participant performed the "cognitive test" oriented to handball, recording their conduct using a position system named Polhemus™ Liberty. The statistical analysis was performed with ANOVA of a factor with the aim of check whether there were significant differences between the physical warm-up and cognitive warm-up, on the other hand, between tests for each warm-up. Following the completion of "cognitive test" were observed significant differences (p <.05) in the reaction time after the development of a type of warm-up and other, being lower after the completion of the physical warm-up. As for the effectiveness of the response, the sample had less failures after completion of the physical warm-up, in addition were committed less errors by the upper limbs, being more effective the extremities of the right side. From the results were discussed the following conclusions (only applicable to the subject of this study): a) the use of a cognitive warm-up does not improve the response time in decision-making situations, while a physical warm-up with these characteristics does seem to contribute to this performance improvement, b) the effectiveness shown during the decision making is lower after cognitive warm-up.
