In this work, we have carried out a bibliographic review in the PubMed database with the aim of finding evidences published in the last 5 years that demonstrates a possible adverse effect of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation on fertility. Twenty-two different papers were located, twelve in studies with rodents or in vitro cell models, two with other animal models, and eight epidemiological studies. The selected literature contains information on minor histopathological alterations in reproductive organs and alterations in sexual cells, but no real fertility study. It is very difficult to assess whether the studies are carried out under physiologically relevant conditions in terms of radiation intensity, distance to the emitter focus, radiation power, etc. There were no epidemiological studies detecting alterations in fertility. In conclusion, no robust experimental evidence has been found in this work suggesting that non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation could be harmful to fertility.
