The present study analyzes the work of the Red de Periodistas de Juárez, a
Mexican association that is in charge of professionalizing journalists, articulating them
and defending their rights. Ciudad Juarez is a conflictive zone when it comes to
practicing journalism, for that reason it’s so important that this city has an institution
like this one. In addition, due to drug trafficking, impunity and the continuous murders
of journalists, more and more organizations of this type are emerging in Mexico. In this
research we have used both qualitative methods (structured interviews) to know how the
Network is organized, and quantitative methods to analyze their social networks
(Facebook and Twitter) and thus understand how they are managed and what impact
they have on the audience.
