Historias de mujeres periodistas valientes Periodismo: una profesión de riesgo para las mujeres

Abstract

Las mujeres periodistas han sido y son objeto de agresiones al ejercer su profesión. El hecho de ser mujer y de vivir en una sociedad patriarcal dificulta una cobertura segura para ellas. En cualquier país del mundo se pueden observar actitudes discriminatorias dentro de la profesión con respecto de las mujeres periodistas. Sin embargo, la magnitud del riesgo varía en función de la conflictividad de la zona. Estos riesgos o agresiones tampoco distinguen de rango dentro de la profesión: corresponsales, redactoras, fotoperiodistas…, todas ellas, en mayor o menor medida, han sufrido algún tipo de riesgo o de agresión sexista en el ejercicio de su trabajo. Desde insultos o amenazas hasta violaciones o asesinatos, son los tipos de riesgos que una mujer periodista puede llegar sufrir en su día a día. Una realidad desconocida y silenciada por la sociedad machista que perdura hasta el día de hoy y por las transgresiones que se cometen contra el derecho a la libertad de expresión.

Women journalists have been and are being attacked in the course of their work. The fact that they are women and live in a patriarchal society makes safe coverage difficult for them. Discriminatory attitudes within the profession towards women journalists can be observed in any country in the world. However, the magnitude of the risk varies depending on the conflict in the area. These risks or aggressions do not distinguish between rank within the profession: correspondents, editors, photojournalists... all of them, to a greater or lesser extent, have suffered some type of risk or sexist aggression in the exercise of their work. From insults or threats to rapes or murders, these are the types of risks that a woman journalist may suffer in her daily life. A reality that is unknown and silenced by the macho society that persists to this day and by the transgressions that are committed against the right to freedom of expression.
