Leila Guerriero: el arte de contar historias reales

Abstract

El siguiente trabajo constituye una aproximación académica a la figura de la periodista argentina Leila Guerriero a través del análisis de sus publicaciones. Guerriero es un nombre fundamental en el llamado periodismo narrativo, es decir, el que emplea técnicas propias de la literatura y del cine para narrar historias reales. En la aproximación a esta autora, se verá cómo fue su nacimiento en el oficio y cómo llega a este por casualidad, aun cuando su bagaje -aficionada al cine y lectora voraz de libros de ficción desde la infancia- parecía conducirla más hacia la creación literaria que a la periodística. Su concepción del periodismo la lleva a especializarse en dos géneros específicos: el perfil y la crónica. En estos formatos extensos, no condicionados por la inmediatez que requiere la noticia, encuentra el espacio idóneo para desarrollar su manera de entender el periodismo: importa tanto lo que se cuenta como la manera de contarlo. Para Leila Guerriero la arquitectura de la prosa tiene que ser atractiva pero, sobre todo, fluida y clara; aunque una escritura nítida y cuidada no es suficiente si no se tiene claro qué contar, si no existe un contenido sólido, riguroso y contrastado. Según la autora, la mirada previa, aquella que es capaz de ver lo que otros miran sin ver, es parte del oficio, como lo es la curiosidad y la necesidad de entender el mundo y al otro. Estas singularidades - junto a otros rasgos más específicos de su escritura- y el análisis detallado de sus publicaciones son foco y objeto de este trabajo.

The following work constitutes an academic approach to the figure of the Argentine journalist Leila Guerriero through the analysis of her publications. Guerriero is an important name in the so-called narrative journalism, that is to say, the one that uses techniques of literature and cinema to narrate real histories. In the approach to this author, you will see how her inception in this work was and how she comes to it just by chance, even if her baggage – she was fond of cinema and a voracious reader of fiction books since her childhood – seemed to lead her more towards literary creation than to journalism. Her conception of journalism leads her to specialize in two specific genres: the profile and the chronicle. In these extensive formats, not conditioned by the immediacy that news requires, she finds the ideal space to develop her way of understanding journalism: it matters both, what is told and how it is told. For Leila Guerriero the architecture of prose has to be attractive and, especially, fluid and clear; although neat and careful writing is not enough if it is not clear what is being told, if there is not a solid, rigorous and contrasted content. According to the author, the previous look, the one that is able to see what others see without seeing, is part of the trade, the same as curiosity and the need to understand the world and each other. These singularities - along with other more specific features of her writing - and the detailed analysis of her publications are the focus and object of this work.
