Manipulación informativa en el proceso soberanista catalán

Abstract

El presente Trabajo Final de Grado pretende ser una aproximación al fenómeno de la manipulación informativa en prensa escrita y digital. De forma más concreta, el objetivo final de esta investigación es ahondar en la realidad informativa más inmediata, como el reciente problema acontecido en Cataluña tras el intento de proclamación de independencia. Todo ello, con el fin de analizar el tratamiento que los medios de comunicación han realizado sobre el asunto y llegar así a la conclusión de si, efectivamente, la información ofrecida ha sido manipulada o tergiversada de algún modo. Para ello, el planteamiento de partida es la propia conceptualización del fenómeno de la manipulación. Así, mediante el análisis de sus causas, efectos y formas de manifestación más comunes en prensa escrita y digital, se pretende mostrar la envergadura real del problema, a través del análisis de datos oficiales y estudios de referencia. Con esta exhaustiva investigación, se esclarecerá también el papel que juegan las nuevas tecnologías en el fenómeno de la desinformación y cómo estas contribuyen a su aparición. Una vez conocido el concepto base que subyace en la presente investigación, se acercará el problema a la actualidad más inmediata mediante el análisis de noticias y todo tipo de contenido periodístico publicado por algunas de las principales cabeceras generalistas en su versión digital, a saber: diario ABC y La Vanguardia. De esta forma, y conociendo la línea ideológica de cada uno de estos medios, se estudiará cómo ha sido el tratamiento dado sobre este tema y su inclusión en la agenda setting. Como colofón a dicha revisión, se pretende dar un paso más allá, esbozando lo que podría considerarse como una propuesta de mejora, con el fin de erradicar el fenómeno de la manipulación informativa en los medios de comunicación y que estos cumplan con su verdadero fin: ser el vehículo transmisor de información veraz y rigurosamente contrastada.

The present Final Degree Project tries to show an approach of the phenomenon about the informative manipulation in the written and digital press. More specifically, the final goal of this research is to delve into the most immediate information reality, such as the recent problem occurred in Catalonia after the attempt to proclaim the independence. All of this, in order to analyze the treatment that the media have made on the matter and thus arrive at the conclusion of whether or not the information offered has been manipulated or distorted in any way. For this, we propose as a starting point the own conceptualization of the phenomenon of manipulation. Thus, through the analysis of its causes, effects and forms of manifestation more common in the written and digital press, we will try to show the real magnitude of the problem, based on official data and reference studies. Through this exhaustive research, we will also clarify the role that new technologies play in the phenomenon of misinformation and how they contribute to its appearance. Once the underlying concept of this thesis is known, we will try to approach the problem to the most immediate reality by analyzing news and all types of journalistic content published by the main national newspapers, both in its printed version and in its digital version, namely: ABC and La Vanguardia. In this way and knowing the ideological line of each one of these media, we will study how the treatment given on this topic has been and its inclusion in the agenda setting. As a culmination to this review, we try to go a step further, outlining what could be considered a proposal for improvement, in order to eradicate the phenomenon of informative manipulation in the media and that these comply with its true purpose: be the vehicle that transmits truthful and rigorously contrasted information.
