Objective. Apply a cognitive remediation therapy (CRT) in a group of adolescents with eating disorders. Analyze central coherence and cognitive flexibility, and other clinical measures. Methods. Cuasiexperimental study with a sample of 11 adolescents with an eating disorder between 13 and 19 years old (M = 16.18 y SD = 1.99). Ten weekly sessions were designed with a duration of 45 minutes. Assessments were performed with the Rey Complex Figure Test, the Trail Making Test, two questions of motivation to change, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), the Eating Disorder Inventory (EDI-2), the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26), the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and a questionnaire to assess the treatment. Results. Statiscally significant differences were found in the scores of Rey Complexe Figure Test. There was a high effect size. The data showed significant differences between the BMI and the perfectionism pre and post treatment. Adolescents found the therapy useful and a positive experience. Discussion. The results of this study reported that CRT is outstanding to improve central coherence and cognitive flexibility in patients with an eating disorder. More research is needed to evaluate the efficacy of CRT in this clinical population. They could incorporate randomized controlled trials.
