The fibromyalgia (FM) suppose a public health problem. Its importance and impact socio-health originate from the prevalence, unknow etiology and ineffective cure. Traditionally psychological variables related to FM have been: managing pain, coping with stress, negative emotions, interference with illness, etc.; but the progress in his study has other psychological factors related to a better fit to FM: acceptance, optimism and resilience.
Objective: To know the relationships between the psychological variables in affected people and those diagnosed with FM.
Method: A cross-sectional study was pursued with diagnosticate people with FM from the FM some associations of Alicante, were enrolled between July and September 2016. Sociodemographic data were collected and the following psychological variables were studied: acceptance of pain, interference of the disease, anxiety and depression, resilience and optimism.
Result: The total number of participants was 32, 96.88% women (31) and 3.12% men (1) between 36 and 73 years of age [mean age (SD) = 57.18 (8.32)]. As for the correlation of variables that a major acceptance results in less anxiety and depression penalty, and less interference of the disease; lower anxiety results in lower depression; and that greater resilience greater optimism, greater acceptance of pain, less anxiety and depression.
Conclusion: We can conclude that resilience is an indicator of good health although we cannot completely confirm the hypothesis of the study.
